Port Royal Primary PTA is made up of the parent body of the school (P1 to P6) with the Executive of the PTA meeting into organize fundraisers and programs to assist the students and teachers. We have also taken on the role of Parent Council, and thus spend time reviewing policies made by the ministry and voicing our concerns and support for the different initiatives.

Last year our major focus for fundraising was installing new stage curtains and ceiling fans in our school hall. We supported teachers with funding to buy supplies for their classrooms, supported a Christmas teacher function and year end ‘thank you’ gifts. Other projects we took on were to provide our Primary Six class with a leaving gift; a ‘Friendship’ bench was purchased and put on the school field; assisted with the cleaning, painting and organizing of our School Library as it was refurbished; supported BEN in the Bermuda Day Half Marathon by entering and sponsoring a team.

Our fundraising efforts in 2017 involved a Movie Night, Bingo Night, Holiday Dance, Read-a-thon and a Sports Day Bake and Pizza sale. For the 2017-2018 school year we have already had a Bingo Night, Movie Night, a School Fair and have several other events planned for the next few months. We have also ensured are monthly PTA meetings has been topic of current interest and have included – presentation on Cyber/Social Media Concerns by the Bermuda Police Community Officers; Character Building for your child and upcoming are how aromatherapy can help your child and Mindfulness.

The focus of the PTA this year is to assist with the refurbishment of an old bathroom/shower room. The hope is to rehab this room into an area where students can come to have tutoring, therapy and one-on-one time as needed.

We appreciate all support.
